Improve productivity

Manage slurry

Improve animal health and welfare

Grant value: between £1,000 and £25,000 for each grant theme.

FETF40 - Heat recovery unit to heat water

Item must:

  • be a heat recovery unit to heat water
  • recover heat from a refrigerated system such as a milk cooler on a dairy farm or from a cold store on a horticultural unit
  • use the recovered energy to pre-heat water for an existing hot water system
  • have a heat recovery tank with a minimum 300L capacity
  • connect to an existing refrigerant system, water supply and hot water system

FETF239A - Automatic milk feeder for lambs

  • be an automatic milk feeder for lambs
  • be able to automatically mix milk powder with water and warm milk to a required temperature on demand

Milk trolleys are not eligible.

Feeders which require manual mixing or dispensing of the milk are not eligible.

FETF242A - Automated footbath for sheep

Item must:

  • be a footbath that can automatically fill, dose, flush and replenish fluid for foot health

*  Please note that although the picture features a cow the foot batch is suitable for cows and sheep and is available in lenghth of 1.8m (perfect for sheep) all the way up to 4.0m

FETF80SH - Weigh bars and weigh platforms for livestock less than 300kg

  • be electronic load bars or an electronic weigh platform to operate with digital weigh heads or readers for use with livestock up to 300kg

Non-electronic weighing systems are not eligible.

Digital weigh heads/readers are not eligible under this item. See item FETF78SH, FETF78PI and FETF78CA - Individual electronic weigh system.

You cannot claim for a Weigh bars and weight platforms for livestock less than 300kg under item FETF80SH if including any part of this item in a claim for item FETF72 – Automatic weighing and drafting crate for sheep.

FETF95 - Additional feed station

FETF315CA - Automatic health and welfare remote monitoring system

Grant amount (based on a quantity of 1) (£): 8,774

Item must:

  • be an automated system for monitoring of health and welfare in livestock using remote devices
  • include base unit, remote devices such as tags, collars or boluses, and any software required for functionality can be included if available for a minimum of 5 years without further costs
  • be able to record, transmit and process animal data
  • monitor at least one health and welfare parameter such as activity level, feeding behaviour, or body temperature
  • use an ear tag, neck collar, leg band or bolus to collect animal-based data
  • be able to trigger an alarm or notification system to alert the user to potential issues

Systems that are only able to monitor oestrous behaviour or heat detection are not eligible. However, systems that can also monitor potential disease status via temperature are eligible.

Systems that attach to the tail are not eligible.

Systems that involve devices applying an electrical pulse to livestock are not eligible.

Tags used for Cattle Tracing System purposes are not eligible.

Item must be purchased as a package. Expected cost is based on one base unit and around 200 ear tags, neck collars, leg bands, or boluses.

Annual or monthly subscription costs are not eligible.

Ongoing subscription payments for software are not eligible.
